Recently I hosted a little get together and mixed up a Mocktail for my ladies who are learning Sober Curious and found this gem of a recipe. I of course tweaked slightly, as I do, mostly because I wanted to use our regular GF Award Winning cherries and Absinthe Orange in this beautiful and delicious drink. I found this sober cocktail to be incredibly satisfying. It tastes good, it looks good, and it feels like a treat. The use of Black Tea instead of Bourbon isn't a total bummer like I thought it might be. Do yourself a favor though, get a silicon ice cube mold for making giant cubes. Makes the drinks feel legit.
A NEW OLD FASHIONED
Makes 2
Ingredients:
1 Black tea bag ( I used un-caffeinated)
Hot water
1 large ice cube for each glass
1 teaspoon Absinthe Orange Deliciousness
2 teaspoons Bourbon Cherry Syrup (literally syrup from the Bourbon Cherry jar, regular or chile)
3 dashes Angustura Bitters
3 dashes Dram Black Bitters
Orange peel and Bourbon Cherry or Chile Bourbon Cherry for garnish
Directions:
Make a cup of tea with the teabag ahead of time and chill. Measure 1/2 a teaspoon each of Absinthe Orange into each rocks glass. Measure in 1 teaspoon each of Cherry Syrup into the glasses. Stir. Split the chilled black tea into the two glasses. Place the ice in, add 3 dashes of Angustura and 3 dashes of Black Bitters. Swirl gently and garnish with an orange peel and a cherry or two.
